Fee: $649Program content includes theoretical and practical applications for working with English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners, from elementary through adult, within the Calgary Board of Education. Upon completion of the program, you will have a broad understanding of EAL learners and their diversity of needs, understand second language acquisition, develop awareness of the Calgary Board of Education policies and procedures concerning EAL students and become familiar with a variety of resources that support EAL learners. You will receive the EAL Assistant 1 Certificate of Recognition upon completion of this program. Read Course Reviews. This 36-hour certificate is recognized by the Calgary Board of Education to meet the qualifications for the position of EAL Assistant. English proficiency of Canadian Language Benchmark 8 is highly recommended to succeed in this course. If you are unsure of your English proficiency, consider taking the Duolingo English Test (external link). An acceptable score for this program is between 90-100. Fees may apply.
